I always thought that physical media and especially film is better than digital. Still, when I bought two polaroids — SX-70 and more recent 600 — I couldn't believe how strange the photos looked. Without the «inner light» we're used to living with on our smartphone screens, they seem very dim and almost unusable.
Another surprising thing is how temperature affects colours. At our +35˚C the photos turn out purple-orange, and even though the Polaroid 600 performs better than the SX-70, I prefer to keep the film in the fridge before I go out. Also, some photos are already cracked and others are burned out in just two years, but it’s ok of course.
Interesting enough, a simple iPhone 13 is enough for digitalize polaroid pictures. I was able to even lighten the shadows a bit.
